Unsigned Spotlight: Noiseheads
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
"Nick - vox/guitar, Greg - drums/vox, Joe - bass/vox"
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Noiseheads? How long has the band been around?
"We've all been in a gazillion bands. Noiseheads has been around since 2010."
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
"Some of my favorite groups have musical puns in the name: BEATles...SOUNDgarden. So, Noiseheads is an homage to those bands."
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
"I (Nick) write them. A few are influenced by jams here and there, but most songs are written solely by me.
As far as lyrical content goes, I've never liked songs that were literal, even in the allegorical sense - 'Well X did this, then Y did that, and Z said this...' My lyrics, for better or for worse, are more interpretive and metaphorical, not unlike Chris Cornell or John Lennon on acid."
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
"Most of them aren't around anymore and there's too many to list. Foo Fighters new record is pretty banging though."
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
"Honestly, probably my uncle. Hearing stories of his band from the 70s, seeing pictures and hearing old demo tapes were pretty inspiring. My dad (his brother) and mom were always encouraging to me and my siblings when it came to playing music growing up."
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
"Green tea. One beer."
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
"We've gotten to play on some pretty cool bills in several really cool cities. Performing on the televised StudioAmped series, similar to Austin City Limits, was special and a hell of a lot of work."
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
"I would've loved to had played with Soundgarden, that one still hurts. As of now, I think we'd pair well with the Foo Fighters."
Is there anything else you would like to add?
"If you're an aspiring musician, give up now!
Just kidding :)
