For live band it's pretty much just myself, whoever is available as an acoustic guitar player and a creepy vintage cymbal monkey.

For starters, were you, or are you, part of any other bands? How long has this project been around?

This is a brand new project that I started in order to release some soft rock material I had kicking around. The only other active project I'm part of right now is my Krista D project, which is essentially just a project under which I release punky ska, doo-wop music. After I wrap up the Molly Grue EP, I'll release an EP from yet another project called 'Hooha and the Peter Guns' under which I'll be releasing my harder rock material.

What's the origin of the name Molly Grue?

Molly Grue is a character from a beloved movie of mine that I would watch over and over again as a child called The Last Unicorn.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your >songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I write all my own material and then hire professional session musicians to play it. The topics for this upcoming EP revolve around some fairly sad topics, mainly abuse and mental illness.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you're making?

No one in particular, the type of music I listen to most often is actually whatever is playing on an 80's New Wave channel. The music I listen to doesn't really play a big role in influencing my sound.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Actually, no... to be honest, the whole reason I became involved in music was because I wrote a quick song after hearing my dad playing a run of chords on the guitar, a melody and words popped into my head, almost like I was hearing a song I had already heard before, and I quickly scribbled it out and sang it for him. He was surprised, encouraged me to write more and I was in the studio recording my first album at 15. The first song I wrote became the single on my first album and went on to receive radio airplay. I've recorded on and off since then but am mainly active as a visual artist. Had it not been for that first random song popping into my head, and the subsequent encouragement, I'd likely have never pursued music at all.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect ...

I'm a ball of stress leading up to a show, I generally just pace around like a spooked horse.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band's career so far?

The only things I've done with this project, so far, are: a newspaper interview, a live performance at my own solo art show opening and, a couple of weeks ago, Pop Garden Radio, in Florida was the first to feature my new single as part of their anniversary show. I'm actually still actively doing interviews for my Krista D EP, but where the EP for the Molly Grue is close to completion I've decided to promote them in tandem.
