Unsigned Spotlight: Lucid AfterLife

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Thom Turner – Guitar

Matthew Shearlaw – Drums

Miles Morrison – Bass

Nat Jack – Lead Vocals

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Lucid AfterLife? How long has the band been around?

Miles: Riftwalker and Hallux

Matt: I played in a band called Starve The Artist & Virgin suicide none of us were hungry or virgins actually at the time

Thom: Currently I also play in Freya and Seasons Past

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The name has always been Lucid AfterLife and has many different meanings, basically though stay lucid and live in the moment.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We work on the songs together, Nat writes the stories. Are songs are vary, we just write about whatever we are thinking about at the moment.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Thom: Steve Wilson is always inspiring me

Nat: Dead people mostly

Miles: Black Label Society and Ministry mostly

Matt: More so I focus on drummers rather then bands when it comes to inspiration but I will say Tool, Meshuggah & The

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Nat: I never planned or dreamed of being in a band or anything like that, I just met some cool dudes who liked my songs so we went with it and here we are now.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Thom: Stretch… A lot, warm up on my instrument and have a cup of coffee

Matt: I just walk over to the drums, and then hit em, sometimes I have a smoke beforehand.

Nat: Meditation is always in my cards

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

The most fun we had was probably playing at the 420 Celebration in Vancouver, there was 20,000 plus people there and there where all high as kites, you couldn’t see the sky. I guess career wise would though would be working with Skip Saylor on our new record, he is the man behind the technical side of The Marshall Mathers LP, felt cool to work with the same guy that Elton John uses.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Porcupine Tree, they are awesome, but if Dio was alive would be awesome to roll with him on the road.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We just released our new video for the single “Time Killaz” I highly recommend you al watch it, on repeat.
