For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Lo’ There Do I See My Brother?
Adam and Caleb were in a post rock band called "Sons", Tor was in a post hardcore type band called "Sean Claude Goddamn", Ahren was in a pop rock band called "Asia Minor" and Will was and is in various hardcore bands namely "Safe And Sound" and "Bad Influence"
How long has the band been around?
We have been a band since November 2011.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It is a stanza from a viking warrior prayer that was said before going into battle. It’s also in a scene from 13th warrior.
Who writes your songs?
We usually write in practice jamming out riffs and melodies, Adam writes the lyrics and we all just piece it all together.
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
The main themes for these songs or albums as a whole stem from life lessons and a curious thought of what comes after life or a sense of purpose. As for what will come in the future anything is possible.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Deftones, Soundgarden, Mogwai, Junius, Copeland
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
The local music scene in Tacoma, WA where we are from has a lot of variety in music from indie to hardcore and were all connected through the DIY all ages community. We all connected through post rock type music which the local scene seemed to lack and felt like expressing our interests through playing that music. Eventually evolving more into what the NW music is more known for in the past.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Adam, Caleb and Tor usually sit in the van and run through vocal exercises together to warm up before the show. Will is usually watching the bands perform and studying their drummers to learn new secret moves. Ahren is usually watching the bands perform or helping them load on and off stage or other activities such as drinking a beer.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
We have gone on 5 west coast tours, one of which we toured with a band from L.A. called "The Sheds" and other tours were we have brought with us bands like "He Whose Ox Is Gored" and A Province Of Thay". Locally over the years we have shared the stage with Junius, Silver Snakes, Title Fight, Single Mothers, The Hotelier, The Fall Of Troy, Between The Buried And Me, Balance And Composure, Heiress, North, Sainthood Reps, La Dispute, O' Brother, Daylight (Super Heaven) Aegis, Amos Val, To The Wind, Code Orange Kids, Pianos Become The Teeth, Whirr, A Hope For Home, Alpine.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
We love so many bands and would tour with pretty much anybody but these bands would probably be fun to perform with, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Deftones, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Russian Circles, the list can go on.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We are a DIY band and work hard to write perform and record and we appreciate anybody who will take a listen and support what we do. We are working with a new management company called 2 Doors Management based out of Seattle, WA and are planning on touring as much as we can everywhere we can across the U.S., Canada or overseas. Thank you for your time.
