Unsigned Spotlight: Lives Lost

Lives Lost was formed in secret in the summer of 2019 by Frontman/Principle songwriter Tanis Pellegrini (formerly of regional metalcore standouts Lasciaté), with the sole purpose of writing music that combined his favorite things about his favorite bands into something he wanted to listen to.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Tanis - Lead Vocals, Guitars Alan - Drums, Keys, Backing Vocals Josh - Bass, Backing Vocals, Aaron - Lead guitar Dylan - Guitar, Vocals

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to (Lives Lost?) How long has the band been around?

Tanis was in A Scarlet Sunset, (is still in) Lasciaté, and was in Oshian. Alan was in Ethics. Josh was in A Perfect Weapon, and Vegas Under Lights. Aaron was in Lasciaté. Dylan was/is in A Candlelit Vigil.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Tanis came up with the name when looking to make a side project with a group of friends all of the way back in 2017/2018 and it was initially called "Our Lives Lost", but after much debate, Tanis and Alan (the two founding members) dropped the "Our" and just stuck with Lives Lost.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Tanis writes our songs mainly based off of his own life experiences. He's suffered a lot of disappointment, heartbreak, loss and to say the least has had a lot of life experiences. Even our upcoming concept EP A Portrait of Loss is losely based on his life.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Alexisonfire, Counterparts, Dayseeker, Frank Sinatra, Holding Absence, Thrice, Thornhill.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

A combination of bands, but I think really and truly Warped tour was the biggest inspiration for most of us to start a band. Seeing people who grew up just like us make music was always inspiring.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Tanis does vocal warm-ups and stretching. Alan practices rudiments. Aaron throws on headphones and runs through the songs. Josh stretches and hypes himself up. Dylan gets mentally in the zone.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Recording our debut EP and shooting our two music videos!

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Alexisonfire, Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, From First To Last, Funeral for a friend, Saosin, Silverstein, and Thrice. Those are the bands that got me into music and I think we're pretty genre adjacent to most so we'd probably meet some cool fans along the way!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thanks for having us, stay tuned for more tunes!
