Bryan Fontez - Frontman

Brenden Armstrong - Lead Guitar

Michael Silva - Rhythm Guitar

Will Shannon - Bass

Chris Galaz - Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Last Bullet?

I had been the drummer in a Black Sabbath Tribute Band called Strictly Sabbath for about 5 years prior to joining Last Bullet as Frontman. I’d also done a lot of acoustic nights singing rock covers with a friend.

Chris Galaz had played drums briefly for a band called Second Weapon before joining Last Bullet, but the rest of the guys had never played in a band or live previous to Last Bullet.

How long has the band been around?

Last Bullet has existed since September 2009, so just under 7 years.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The name was decided upon early when 3 of the original members had began throwing around some words and ideas with a few friends. They decided on Last Bullet because they liked the way that it insinuated that you only had one shot. And so the name took on a very literal meaning for us because we truly began playing every show as if it was our last.

It’s basically our version of the latin phrase Carpe Diem which means “Seize the day”. Do all that you can today to make tomorrow better because the future will forever be uncertain.

Who writes your songs?

The majority of the writing is done by myself and Brenden Armstrong, most of the lyrics on our first EP however were written by Michael Silva.

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

The topics and subject matter tend to vary greatly with us. We honestly write what we feel or what we’re going through. Sometimes we even sympathize with the situations of others and write about them or we create a story about a fictional person using their situation as inspiration.

Topics for us have varied from Break-ups, Love, Sex, Drugs, Money, Relationships, Politics, Philosophy, Music, Touring. It’s always different and I’m confident it’ll changeover and over until the day that we stop making music.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Monster Truck, Royal Blood, Rival Sons, Temperance Movement.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

For me personally there wasn’t, I just always loved music and wanted to make it with other like-minded people. But if you asked some of the other guys they’ll probably mention bands like Zeppelin and AC/DC as huge inspirations for forming a band.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

I like to do some stretching, drink some tea with honey and then do a nice calm and relaxed 30 minute vocal warm-up. Everyone else typically has a meal, grabs a few beers and begins fiddling and tinkering with their guitars/sticks to loosen up the fingers and stuff.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

We’ve had quite a few moments that we’re proud of for different reasons. Playing the big stage at Big Music Fest ahead of Aerosmith, Soundgarden, Styx, Bryan Adams and a bunch of other great bands was definitely one of them. But one of our best shows and opportunities so far was recently when we opened for Buckcherry. It was a great show, a great night and we made a lot of fans that day.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

That’s a really hard one, but I’m gonna say the original Guns N’ Roses line up back in the 90’s. It would have been unreal to be on tour and partying, living, hanging out and playing night after night with those guys. AC/DC with Bon Scott would have been another one I think most of the guys in the band including myself would have loved to have played with. Velvet Revolver, would also be awesome.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank’s a lot for having us featured on the site and for the interview, we really appreciate it!
