For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Inamorata? How long has the band been around?

Before playing in Inamorata Alex was in Through Arteries, Dio was in At The Mercy of Me, Adam played in Versus Leviathan, Joseph in Awaiting Hope, and Adrian was in Half-Baked 69. Just a bunch of local bands from the San Antonio area.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

It took us awhile to settle on a name. We had originally settled on Io but weren’t fully convinced. Later we fell in love with the song Inamorata by Shreddy Krueger and decided to use that as the name.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We all take part in the song writing. Alex usually writes a rhythm part and then Joseph puts a lead over it. After that Adam adds the drums and finally Adrian the bass.Vocals usually don’t happen until Dio is at the studio and can get a real feel for the song. Most of the topics have to do with past relationships and friendships. But touch on family situations as well.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

The list goes on and on. Emarosa, Saosin, Further Seems Forever, Secret and Whisper, Anberlin, and Misery Signals, always Misery Signals. But of course there’s a ton of stuff I’m leaving out. These are just the bands that seem to always be inspiring us.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

While I (Alex) was playing in Through Arteries I found inspiration in Relativity by Emarosa to start a more rock type band. I left TA in 2011 and by the Summer of 2012 Joseph and I were working on the Inamorata EP.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Just a nice chill session in the back parking lot. Dio usually does some vocal exercises.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

We’ve probably had 3 big highlights so far.

1) Jonny Craig recording on The Runner Up
2) Playing the All Stars tour 2015 in San Antonio
3) Working with producer Joseph Milligan (former guitarist of Anberlin)

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Emarosa mainly because Brandon Morgan is their touring drummer. And of course Misery Signals. In all honesty the list is too long to list but Emarosa and Misery Signals would be our first two choices because they are the two bands that have influenced our writing the most.
