Honan aka "The Destroyer" - Guitars and Vocals - Gordon aka "The Hater" - Lead Vocals - Johnson Z - Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Gus McArthur? How long has the band been around?

We have all been apart of various projects, including underground hip hop as well as various metal or rock projects. Gus McArthur began late 2014 with the two brother Honan and Gordon. 

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Our name comes from the being behind the music, Gus McArthur. He sends us what he wants the world to hear. Each member of the band receives their signals from Gus, which we translate into each Chapter the world needs to hear at specific times.  

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

As we said above, Gus McArthur writes all of our music, we are simply his tools to translate to human beings. The topics arise from the signals Gus sends to the band. He only transmits in times of turmoil or apocalypse. The themes are timeless and relevant to the state of the world and mankind. 

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Much of our inspiration is derived from older bands and music, including 80's Thrash, 90's hip hop and new metal.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

No not specifically, but Metallica and James Hetfield have been huge influences on much of our earlier work as well as our drive. 

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

We practice and then practice some more! Usually we practice right before and relax together. Also, getting in the pit before a show is a great way to get pumped up!

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

A few things, playing at The Whiskey, which was amazing! Creating as well as completing our 3rd annual desert show called "Metalanto". Creating our own store as well as T-Shirt line. 

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

BABYMETAL and Metallica. BABYMETAL because they are our favorite new music and one of the best live shows we have seen in recent years, their energy is amazing and would be hard to match. And of course Metallica, we have seen them live many times and grew up on their music, who wouldn't love to play with their heroes? 

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Gus is going back into the studio and is always playing live shows as well as creating new media content online.
