Unsigned Spotlight: Geron

Geron grew up in a military family, which has influenced her greatly. She grew up in many cities and traveled frequently, but spent most of her childhood in Atlanta, GA, and Virginia. Her parents instilled in her a “never give up” attitude, which has led her to relentlessly pursue her dream career in the entertainment industry no matter how challenging that may be.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

I am a solo artist.

For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to this?

I have never been a part of a band, but I’ve been doing music for awhile and I released my first song 3 years ago.

What’s the origin of your name?

My name stems from my dad’s side of the family. Their family name is of Creole- French decent “Bergeron” so I just shortened it to pay tribute.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I write all of my music and the songs are usually about love. I think as  I open up more and grow as an artist my song topics will change and become more and more personal, but for right now love is always a great topic.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Currently, I listen to a lot of H.E.R. and Ariana Grande which of course are complete opposites, but it ensures that I get my daily dose of Pop music and R&B music.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

I have always been a huge fan of watching Beyoncé when I was little. Whenever she was on stage I would tell myself “I can do that!”

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

Before a show I usually drink hot tea most of the day and run through some vocal exercises. After that, I listen to song that’s usually get me pumped and before I go on I say a small prayer to myself.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

I think one of the biggest highlights I have would be filming and watching my first music video come to life. I am always worried about what I look like on camera so it was awesome to have a completed piece of work that I was proud of.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

If I could tour with anyone currently it would be Rihanna. I feel the tour would be very fun and carefree.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you for the opportunity!
