Unsigned Spotlight: Forts Like Vana

Forts Like Vana is an alt pop band from Nashville, TN.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Nito - Hair enthusiast (Bass)
Logan – Anti-silence-ist (Vocals)
Diego – Wallet (Drums)
Derek - Fashion diva (Guitar)

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Forts Like Vana? How long has the band been around?

We’ve all played in at least 3-4 bands before forming as Forts Like Vana in January 2018.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed your name before?

Sorry - we can’t disclose where the name came from. Something about a “PR nightmare.” This is the only name we’ve gone by.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We all write the songs in one way or another. It mostly just comes from experiences or late night conversations. We write about love and heartbreak and stupid decisions and learning from mistakes.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

We can’t get enough Mannheim Steamroller lately.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Logan’s first concert was Aaron Carter so there’s that. It’s probably different for all of us. From Guns N' Roses to Bob Marley and the Wailers.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc…

We usually find a local watering hole nearby and get hydrated.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

We go to this taco joint in Nashville like twice a week to talk about life and love, and finding that has been pretty monumental.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Dewey Cox? Yeah definitely Dewey Cox.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you for the interview! We love you. Go blast ‘Love You Right’ and come hang with us at a show!
