Unsigned Spotlight: Earth & Elsewhere

With prominent nods to shoegaze, metal, melodic hardcore, and grunge all ebbing through on the new record, Earth & Elsewhere convey an immersive and perennially atmospheric soundscape, rooted in the band's eclectic music persuasions.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

 ⁃ Lance Augustine- Vocals/Bass

 ⁃ Jeff Weakland- Guitars

 ⁃ Luke Brancato- Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Earth & Elsewhere? How long has the band been around?

We’ve all been in bands prior to E&E and are currently in other bands along with E&E. Lance was the previous frontman for “We, The Gathered”. Luke was in the band “Burn False Idols” and is currently in the Pittsburgh grunge gaze band “Chrome Eyes.” Jeff Weakland plays in a local project from our hometown in Johnstown PA called “Flechette”

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The band originally was formed in the early spring of 2022. We had a list of band names we accumulated over about a month we were pretty excited about but when the name “Earth & Elsewhere” was brought up, we all knew right away that was the name we were going to use and we have not had to put any other thought into a band name luckily since due to its originality

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We have a very inclusive writing process as we all contribute to writing in order to make sure we have multiple minds creating the best parts we can to pick from when deciding how to progress songs. The themes we tend to stick to are creating extreme highs and lows, peaks and valleys, into our music to create a dramatic atmosphere. We label our sound as a blend of melancholy and malice, which we try to resonates through the music and lyrics of each and every song

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

We all come from various musical backgrounds so we pull from a lot of elements. Deftones, Counterparts, Casey, REZN, and Superheaven are some bands that we find ourselves listening to when trying to get song inspiration.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

The three of us have known each other for years and just finally decided to form a band and commit to the idea of developing this band into its greatest potential.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

We don’t do anything special or specific to prepare for a show necessarily. Just practice and be prepared and all is well.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

The biggest moment so far has been releasing our first single/music video “Bastard Son” with Dreambound which we’ve been a big fan of for years. Besides that, we’re very excited to be playing regionally with weekend runs and releasing our live studio session we recorded at Cerebral Audio with Shane Mayer.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

There could a whole list of bands we would love to tour with, but heavyweights like Pantera or Metallica would be up there. For us collectively, being a part of something like Ozzfest or Warped Tour would absolutely be a highlight.

Is there anything else you’d like to add
