Unsigned Spotlight: Drop The Act

Drop The Act are a pop-punk band from New Castle, PA. Their music brings high energy and a rush to their fans that leave them begging for more.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Matt Priscilla (Vocals)
Jacob Hoffman (Guitarist)
Josh Hoffman (Guitarist)
Adam Kaminski (Bass)
Adam Alfano (Drums)

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Drop The Act? How long has the band been around?

Jacob, Josh, and Alfano were a part of a band called "Fallen Avenue" while Kaminksi was a metalcore vocalist in a band called "For Now and Forever". Priscilla was never a part of any bands prior to DTA. Drop The Act was formed in late 2012

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Drop The Act was actually a song by a band called "Audiostrobelight". They were a band that made an impact on us when we were much younger. The bands name has not changed.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We all take part in the writing process. Each member writes their own parts (Matt writes most of the lyrics, Jake and Josh guitar parts, ect.) and we collectively work together on songs. A lot of the themes and topics of our songs vary. Relationship struggles. Temptations. Self struggle. Mostly things we've experienced at one point or another in our lives. We believe the topics will change over time because we will change as individuals.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Bands that we grew up listening to. New Found Glory, All Time Low, Coheed and Cambria. (Weird combination, we know)

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

For each of us it was different. All Time Low has a big impact on our vocalist Matt. While Jacob and Josh were inspired by Coheed and Cambria. Alfano was New Found Glory and Zebrahead, Kaminski was The Plot in You

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

We usually just go over the set prior to the show quickly and crack a lot of jokes to lighten the mood and ease the nerves.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Going to Maryland to work with producer Greg Parker and shooting our first official music video with Fred the FHRITP guy.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Blink182 just because it's Blink. All Time Low because Matt was inspired by Alex Gaskarth and New Found Glory because its New Found Glory. It's hard to pick one because they are all legends in their own way.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Our debut full length album "Lets Plan a Robbery" is set to be released in 2015 and we hope to do some touring afterwards.
