For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to diM.? How long
has the band been around?

Wes/Beast:
1st band I was in was Substance in 2002 while I was in high school
2nd was Beyond Theory in 2004. We started diM. in 2006

James/ Mr.Blight:
      1991-93 Requiem

      2015 Death in motion

Nick/Bastard:

piece of tomorrow
Losing tomorrow
Just of balance
Ajax
Marc of kain

Calvin/Carver:

diM. is my first and only band. I'm barely even a real musician. I have a talent equivalent to Pom-Poms. I am a character adaptation loosely based on a musician.

Travis/Ashes:

Slyther (ex)
Sicocis (current)
AtteroTerra (current)

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The original bassist Sean thought of (diM.). He wanted something short and sweet (like Korn), so that's what he thought of. I came up with Death in Motion. I felt that diM. needed a meaning and with us losing so many people that year, I felt that it was appropriate.  We've used both ever since.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your
songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Beast:
It's more of a community style writing. Everyone chips in and works on making it to something we all like.

Bastard:

Who writes the songs???? "Jesus" of course

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Beast:
It varies from song to song. I love Breaking Benjamin, Nonpoint, Ill Niño, Sevendust, Killswitch, Deftones. All of them have a heavy influence on me while writing.

Bastard:
JON bonnamasa , Kenny Wayne Sheppard , The Beatles, Lamb of God, Godsmack, Killswitch, “Hamilton the musical”

Carver:

Personally Gemini Syndrome, Tool, Sevendust, just about anything Jesse Leach touches, Devilment. I could go on forever.

Blight:

Threat Signal, Sybreed, Lamb of God

Ashes:

Molly Ringwald, circa 1986. I realize she's not exactly a band, but something about her fucking face has always made me want to commit violence, and that feeling is pretty good inspiration for the type of music that Chad writes on our behalf.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a
band?

Beast:
My brother was my main influence.  He was/is a local DJ (DJ Day Won in Las Vegas). He was also in a band called Cornerstone. He would take me to all the local shows he was allowed to and take me to metal/rock shows all the time. I think without him and his influence I wouldn't be doing the things I do now.

Blight:

1984 Original Van Halen

Carver:

Kiss and Guns n' Roses were huge to me a child. I started very late though, but I could always route it back to those bands.

Bastard:

My Cousin Dex

Ashes:

Rammstein made me want to play music, Metallica made me want to play guitar. Zero shame. #eatmyass

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Beast:
I stretch a bit, but that's like right before I get on stage. Everything is usually so hectic daily that preparing for anything is kind of lost. Just kind of go do it when it's your time.

Blight:

Sometimes I flex, but it's not recommended.

Bastard:

Stretches massage my fingers and arms, some scale exercises and picking warm ups then I'll do a shot of Jägermeister, a rum and coke and a beer pretty much all at once

Carver:

Put in the iPod and find something to sing to and I try to stretch a little to loosen up. Then go skiing. Other than that, whenever we go out on the road. CIRCLE JERK AT EVERY STOP, BABY!!!

Ashes:

Aggressive masturbation in public restrooms with Carver behind me making eye-contact via mirror. I don't finish though; that would just make me sleepy.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Beast:
Man.... there's been a ton that I hold special to me, but I think our Anniversary show at House of Blues was probably our strongest showing with a pretty solid crowd supporting us.

Bastard:

Highlight probably the release of our last album and video.

Carver:

Shit....well, I could go on about some of the great bands we have opened for that. Those are a given. But there is always this one moment that sticks in my head. One of the first shows we played in Cali, we played the upstairs to youth church. No stage. The kids stayed away a bit, but they warmed up and got close. I let out this long screams and got light headed.
That point where you start to blackout and time slows down....I remember thinking....we are in a different state...playing our music....crazy..

Blight:

Opening for Fear Factory and Soilwork

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and
why?

Beast:
I would love to jump on with Sevendust, Nonpoint, Gemini Syndrome,
Killswitch, plenty more but those are my top at the moment.

Bastard:

Aerosmith or Metallica probably

Carver:

Type O Negative, Hed PE, Motograter, Gemini Syndrome, Twiztid, Slipknot, Pantera.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Ashes:

Every time you fall asleep, you die, and someone else wakes up in your body thinking that they're you. You are alone, trapped within your own mind; the world around you is your lie. Soon you will be nothing; you will never again hear sounds; never again see colors; never again be anyone. Wo de qidianchuan zhuangman le shanyu.

Carver:

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!

Bastard:

And then Shlami comes and rubs it...and spits on it.

Beast:
Thank you for taking the time to read all our non-sense. As ridiculous as
we all seem, we appreciate our family, friends, and whatever fans we have
been blessed with over the years
