Unsigned Spotlight: Clock Strikes Midnight

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Ben Weichler - Bass and vocals
Travis Hunter- Guitar and vocals

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Clock Strikes Midnight? How long has the band been around?

We were apart of many “jam bands” with friends. We never took those too far and they all ended a few months after starting. Some we both were in together, some we were separate from.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We both write the songs, usually one person has an idea then the other adds something else to it. A few times it's also just what’s started in the room and build from that idea from then. The topics we have are usually just things that are real, some more serious than others. Our song “Letters” started after the attacks in Paris and just thinking about how intense the current violent acts and wars are going on today. We want to always write lyrics that are just real to us and what is going on, but the subject will differ from song to song.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Alkaline Trio, My Vitriol, Blink-182, Muse, SWMRS, and My Chemical Romance are huge influences for us.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Ben: For me, Green Day was the band that got me into wanting to play music and is in a band. Just seeing how much fun they had on and off stage. It just clicked with me and ever since then, I have always wanted to be in a band and do music.

Travis: There wasn’t a specific band or anything like that, I never wanted to be in a professional until Ben asked me, and I wanted to prove to myself and others that I could do it.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect

Guitar/Vocal warm-ups, jumping, stretching, and usually right before we go on we usually find a quiet and alone space to put ourselves in the right mindset.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Probably the biggest highlight for us would be seeing all the amazing love and support and seeing how it just continues to grow. It is incredible to see that.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

SWMRS would be amazing to tour with. We love their music a lot, and they seem like really fun and nice dudes to hang out with.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We would like to thank our amazing fans for what they have brought to us. We wouldn’t be where we are without them. And if someone hasn’t heard of us, we hope they give us a chance and enjoy our music. Our new EP is out, so please go check that out!
