Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Flo - lead vocals Attila - bass & vocals Mate - Drums Mate MK. - guitar
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Chasing Sounds? How long has the band been around?
Me Attila have been in a metalcore band called Nuclear Garden, HC-Metal band Abnolify and a Punkband Good Reason, before I started Chasing Sounds. Mate has played drums in two progressive metal bands Dysentery and Disconcrete. Flo was in some french metal band we don't know the name of it, and Mate M. Kovacs haven't played in any band before joining us. Chasing Sounds has been around since August 2013.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Long story told short, after a drunken & wasted high school night, we were listening to some music in Mate's grandma's basement and after playing with some words Mate said Chasing Sounds, we knew it right there that if we ever put a band together this is how we gonna call it. We never even considered changing the name and never will. It's just perfect and says a lot about our music as well... We couldn't describe ourselves better!
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Me (Attila) I'm the songwriter of the band. I usually write all the stuff on guitar, record all the guitars and bass as well. Either I come up with something at home and I just bring it to band practice, or we just go in jam and if there's a good riff or idea we work on it and turn it into a song. There are various topics like everyday problems, corruption, life & death and other common things people and we can relate to.
It's a lot about what happens with and around us, in the environment were living, people we know and things that have happened to them. The topics could change as much as the things around us change. We still haven't wrote a real cheesy love song, which I'm pretty proud of and I wanna go on as much as possible with the band without writing one haha.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Everything what's good inspires me to write a song in some kinda way. Apart from the 90's hardcore, pop-punk and nu-metal bands which we love and grew up listening to I discover some other bands from time to time. Most of them are old bands and some of them are not even around anymore. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Sunny Day Real Estate, Nations Afire, Dag Nasty, Only Crime and Quicksand all of them have a darker vibe so for me currently this is the directions I'm heading to musically. We already got 13 brand new songs written, which we wanna record in 2017 so stay tuned for our second full length album!
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I got into music in general in a very early age, by listening to Queen, Scorpions, Metallica and Iron Maiden from the records my parents had.
I was around 5 years old when I knew what I was listening to and requested the same bands songs over and over again. Then when I turned 10 I got hooked on Punkrock instantly. My older cousin gave me an Offspring cassette and there was I brainwashed from it after hearing it a few times.
The music seemed super fast, catchy and very melodic the guys who played it looked super cool with their guitars hanging above their knees with baggy pants and spiked hair. What more could impress a prepubescent boy ? The moment when I decided that I wanna play guitar and be in a band was when I saw Blink-182 for the first time. I wanted to be like Tom Delogne haha.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Mate does some stretching and push ups like every drummer probably, me I stretch my fingers, pull them back especially if my hands are still frozen from loading out the gear from our van. Otherwise I'll have an energy drink
and one or two shots of any kinda spirit which is laying around, just to warm myself up. One more important thing which I've learned from my own mistake is that, I try not to eat anything at least 2 hours before we go on stage. The last thing you wanna do is to fart thru the set and shit your pants accidentally from that big bowl of mayonaisse-bean salad you had backstage.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
I'm proud of everything we've done so far, the music videos, all the gigs around Europe, sharing the stage with Ignite and The Svetlanas. Hopefully were gonna be lucky enough to continue our path this way, play bigger and better shows, get on to some festivals and tour more is what we wish for.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
We just supported Ignite on a gig, they are super cool guys very down to earth and our music is similar to what they play. We had a great time talking, drinking and hanging with them, it would be amazing to tour with them and to the same things
for 2-3 weeks straight.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Check out our music videos on Youtube, hit us up on Facebook, download our album for FREE and most importantly come to our gig if were in a city near you. Also were looking for a Tour Manager or Booking Agency to work with. If you know somebody please hit us up ASAP we need to get more shows around the country. Thanks for having us happy holidays and hopefully see you all next year. - The Sounds
