For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Charly&Faust? How long has the band been around?  

Charly: I got couples of other bands before, but currently I am playing bass in a band called The Sutra. I also have a solo project called Charly.

Faust: It’s my first band and we started it a year and half ago.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?  

Faust: Our band's name comes from our two nicknames: Charly for Marie and Faust for me.

Charly: It always has been the same name. We got lucky because our band's name sounds pretty well, and nobody else used it before us so it allows us to get a good visibility online.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?  

Faust: I usually write the songs. I write with my feelings, my emotions and my life experiences. They are pretty colorful and talk about different subjects like love, humanity and pain.

Charly: Our songs talk about societal events that we lived or experienced. It can talk about love, depression, feminism, terrorist attacks, etc.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?  

Charly: Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Kodaline, The Lumineers, etc.

Faust: I can’t tell all of them! But at this moment I’m writing these words, I’m really inspired by Florence and the Machine, Coldplay and Nancy Sinatra.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?  

Faust: I guess! I always loved Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros.

Charly: Not really. We all got different music influences and music experiences that bring us where we are today. But I would say that those stories brought us to do music as our job, not just to be part of this specific band.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …  

Charly: Faust is doing our tribal make up to go on stage and when we have time we love to jam before a gig. It allows us to be in the same mood and to be really connected on stage.

Faust: Usually just chilling together, and I like taking a little moment just by myself to relax and do some voices exercices.  

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Faust: So far I would say it is just to feel the energy on stage with the fans.

Charly: Probably when we shoot and released our first music video “No Rush” directed by Mariano Schoendorff Ares and produced by Zoé Pelloux. We are actually waiting for answers from different festivals we applied for and we already won prices in two of them.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?  

Charly: Edward Sharp and The Magnetic Zeros. I saw them a few years ago in Los Angeles and I was so amazed by their performance. And after the show, they all came outside with the audience and continued the concert there! I mean: life goal.

Faust: The Lumineers. I really like their music and they seem pretty awesome to tour with!
