Unsigned Spotlight: Bitter Bones

Please list your name.

Jesse Harbison

For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to Bitter Bones?

Before Bitter Bones I toured in a pop punk band called “ Friday Night Lites ” and a Metalcore band “ LEVELER”

What’s the origin of that name?

Honestly, I had An ongoing joke with my friends for years about having a hip hop project called “Big Boned”. That name has always kinda stuck with me so naturally when I was looking for a name for this project it what I went towards. And if you listen to the lyrics in my songs they are all pretty emotional and “Bitter” so to speak.

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Right now the first few tracks that are coming out are very emotional touching on heartbreak and suicide awareness. I generally sing about things that have upset me or do upset me, Music is really my only way to get my emotions out. But with that being said I also have happy up beat songs as well, I just kinda write what I’m feeling. So yes, these topics could change at any time.

What artists are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Right now I’m currently listening to a lot of Post Malone and Nothing, Nowhere.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to get into music?

I always grew up with music in my household so I’ve kind of always been into it. Whether I was head banging to Pantera with my dad ( Which still happens frequently), Singing in the car to Matchbox 20 with my mom or dancing on the lawn with my sister to Nysnc It’s always been there. And I have always loved hip hop and made hip hop but it wasn’t until I went to see a friend who was touring with an artist Nothing, Nowhere. When I saw that man perform live it really re sparked an old flame of mine and I started back with this.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

I just wanna be hype. So I usually put on some Blood For Blood or something heavy in my headphones and hype myself up.

What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

I mean I spent every summer as a teenager getting hyped up for Warped Tour and going to watch all my favorite bands, so when I got to perform a few years back in my last band it was like a childhood bucket list thing for me.

If you could tour with any musical act, past or present, who would they be and why?

As far as artist that I would want to tour with right now... I’d Say Lil Skies or Nothing, Nowhere. Lil Skies live videos look hype and N,N. Inspires me. But past bands
