Unsigned Spotlight: Big G

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

"Big G is currently being performed by Bruddah Cobrah, Pleasure P and the Bigfinger."

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Big G? How long has the band been around?

"Big G has always been protected by its spirit animal, "native" northern California's own Wise Owl."

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

"The name means nothing yet stands for everything. The "G" is something we embody."

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

"Big G is one of the elusive "Smith Cloud" bands. Writers Patrick Simon and Johnny Gates created Big G with Hawaiian painter, photographer and yogi Rian Basilio. The "love Trafficker" himself."

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

"Big G's biggest influence was an "indie soul" band from the 50's known as "The Fugues". Unfortunately their one and only record burned up in a studio fire right after final mixing. We survived solely on sheet music and the legend of a bootleg rehearsal recording somewhere in existence."

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

"During sound checks we find that performing the original theatrical score to Pete's Dragon, the only way to have proper Big G levels set. We prefer the number Every Little Piece by kasha & Hirschhorn. It's quite igneous."

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

"We prepare for our performances with a rigid calisthenic routine that includes the alpine vertical press, the whistling lumberjack squat...and both "Esteban" Crane techniques."

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

"Our box set "Pyramid of G" due before the end of 2018"

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

"The unwavering refusal to fool or deceive our fans in anyway is in fact what makes Big G itself unimaginable."

Is there anything else you would like to add?

"Sonically we don't calculate down to mp3. Subsequently our records aren't meant to be listened to at portable device levels. They were mastered at an alarming volume by "Big Bottom" Bob Lanzner. We blew itunes right out the water. we want people to hear our music on the biggest level possible"
