Unsigned Spotlight: Another Day's Armor

Another Day's Armor is an alternative metal band from New York. Combining the huge, mainstream sound of arena rock with borderline metal instrumental work, the band started to create a buzz for themselves.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Logan Manganelli - Vocals
Nick Palma - Lead Guitar
Ryan Bicknell - Guitar
Joe Grunski - Bass
Alec Keshishian - Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Another Day's Armor?

Logan - 2 bands prior
Nick - One band prior that became ADA
Ryan - ADA first and only band
Joe - 3 bands prior
Alec - One band prior that became ADA

How long has the band been around?

Technically ADA was founded in 2018. Me (Nick) and Alec were in a band prior and decided to keep some of the music we were working on and put it towards a new project which ended up becoming Another Day’s Armor. Over time, we went through a few lineup changes but feel like we finally have the lineup we were always looking for.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

When it came down to decide on a band name, we each made a list of names that either sounded good and had some sort of meaning behind it or just sounded cool and easy to remember. “Another Day’s Armor ended up being one of the names we just liked the sound of and stuck with it.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

The main songwriter is Nick, who then gives the instrumentals over to Logan to write lyrics and vocal melodies. Joe also writes some seriously awesome rock riffs as well. Topics for our song vary but the main theme is that we feel like each song is relatable. Whether it be the lyrics or even instrumental parts, we pride ourselves on writing music that makes you feel something. Every band changes what they write about from time to time, because good songwriting is personal and comes from a vulnerable and sometimes uncomfortable place that the artist is in at the time.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Bands that successfully blend rock and metal together are what really inspires us. We want to be the biggest band on the planet one day so having a huge anthemic sound is important to us. Bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Bring Me The Horizon, & Black Veil Brides are all in the same realm we want to be in, just to name a few.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

For me [Nick] Personally, the band that really inspired me to pursue this at a young age was Avenged Sevenfold. They were that band that just carried the torch for the new generation and they still inspire me just as much to this day.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Before a show we always try to find some time and a quiet place to warm up. Alec has his practice pad, Logan will do some vocal warm ups, our guitar players will run through scales, etc. Warming up makes a huge difference.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Putting out high quality music videos on our own budget and seeing that it was worth it. We’ve gotten to around 150k streams on Spotify just from 3 singles and were extremely proud of that since we are currently an independent band.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Our goal is to tour with the biggest bands of today because that would mean we’re on top as well. Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, BMTH.
