Unsigned Spotlight: Analog Drip

Analog Drip is a two-piece Pop Punk/Alternative Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. They have been playing in bands together since high school and have the liver damage to back up the party lifestyle they portray in their lyrics.t

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Ryan Josey: Vocals/Guitars

Anthony Nolan: Bass

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Analog Drip? How long has the band been around?

We were both members of the band Parkridge from high school up until 2019 when we called it quits and started writing music together under the name Analog Drip.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Analog Drip is a bit of a nod to our love for 80s and 90s pop culture and the vibe of partying and being confident in yourself and what you stand for.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We write everything about 50/50, each song is its own process. Whoever comes up with the original hook or verse usually bases the song off what we were going through in that moment. However, some songs like our newest single Party Song! are written with the theme decided. I think every song from one to the next is going to change topics even if they maintain a similar vibe.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Ryan: For me I’ve been getting re-inspired by the classics like Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, Lit, New Found Glory, and Panic! At the Disco. As far as music on the new side, I've been digging Kenny Hoopla, Hot Mulligan, Capstan, Real Friends, and MGK

Anthony: I have to say the bands I have been jamming too most recently are Capstan, Citizen, The Night Game, Seahaven and the classics which have really been on repeat are TBS, The Starting Line and Armor for Sleep.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Anthony: I have to say that Taking Back Sunday was the first band that made me realize how much I truly loved music and wanted to make it.

Ryan: Yeah, I would have to agree with Anthony, when I heard the album “Tell All Your Friends” when I was 12 it blew my mind and made me seek out other kids who played pop punk to get a band going.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Ryan: I have weird rituals I do for every show and idk where they came from lol. I won’t shower the day of a show no matter what and I wear the same pair of boxers from the night before. I also tell a random person that they are beautiful right before we hit the stage, it’s like a compulsive thing for me.

Anthony: Usually I like to stress out all day and kill that with a beer or two the hour before we play.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

The response that we are getting from the new music we’ve been writing. Everyone we show Party Song! too whether we know them or not seems to be digging it and right now that’s all that matters to us.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

The 3 bands from past to present we would pick would be The Rolling Stones, Motley Crue and Taking Back Sunday. I think the one thing they all have in common is they tended to get into their fair share of trouble and have a reckless great time while putting on killer shows.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We are releasing another new single titled “Neverland” in August and were looking for a drummer and guitarist to finalize our lineup and get started playing shows! Party on and live life to the fullest!
