Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

AKoVA - vocalist, multi-instrumentalist

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to AKoVA? How long has the band been around?

AKoVA has been around for about 6 years. Previously Shoebox, The Bedroom and The Dirty White

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Origin of AKoVA is its an abbreviation of my first and last name.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

AKoVA write all the songs.

The general theme of my music is the last 6 years of my life. Which is a journey from living with my head to living with my heart.

I hope the topics change because the more I grow on this journey the more I would like to share.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Nobody at the moment really but I am listening to Macklemore, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats and Nahko and Medicine For The People

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Donovan Leith. I heard him as an 8 yrs old on the radio taking a drive with the old man. The song was Sunshine Superman. That song put me on my path from that moment.

What do you do to prepare for a show?

I have been doing this my whole life. I basically jump in the back of my van, change my clothes and then jump on stage.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

I guess sharing the stage with Xavier Rudd on his United Nations Tour

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

It would probably be Nahko and Medicine for the People. I like the way he writes and we are both storytellers in our own way

Is there anything else you would like to add?

There is a message I would like to send out to the world. Do more of what you love. I believe it will bring you closer to living your heaven on Earth. Big hug
