Unsigned Spotlight: ADCC

ADCC are a three piece multi-genre collaboration between age old friends based in Graham, North Carolina. The band was initially created as a troll operation to target racists who posted horrible things online about anti racists who protested the confederate statue in downtown Graham. After that, things got quickly out of hand and took on a life of their own nobody could have ever seen coming...

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Steven Meyers Jr • vocals, guitars and synth, along with two co-conspirators.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to ADCC? How long has the band been around?

Due to the explicit nature and origin of how this band came around, two of the three founding members have chosen to remain anonymous.

Steven also plays guitar for Past Tense Of Never and Zane Alexander & The Purple Dragons and fronted party rock band Jessica Is Dangerous.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The etymology of Alamance Death Camp Conspiracy stems from both the horrible practices of police in Alamance County, Graham, North Carolina, USA and the fervent support of white supremacy and confederate ideology from both the same cops and local citizens.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Songwriting is a responsibility shared by all three band members. The main theme for our material centers around our anger and feelings in relation to events unfolding in Graham, North Carolina. Being the town that Steven grew up in and wished to raise his family in, it was hard for him and the other two members to not have a deep love for this area while showcasing complete and utter disgust at the white supremacy openly touted by the Alamance County Sheriff Office, Graham Police Department and local confederates.

We also attempt to showcase the violence that police put upon peaceful protesters in downtown Graham. We release songs in the hope that somebody will pay attention and help do something about this disgusting situation in an area we all love dearly.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

On a musical level, we take inspiration from the angrier, more pissed off side of the musical genres. NIN, As I Lay Dying, Faith No More. When it comes to lyrics, I feel that we are more inspired by groups like N.W.A. and Body Count than anything else.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

No. Not for this particular band, it actually was put together quite quickly.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Due to COVID-19 we have not been able to perform, with our first show coming up at the end of the year.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Personally we think of the biggest highlight of our band is the fact that our best promoters are our detractors. The far right hates us and tells people how horrible we are, and the far left hates us and tells people that we are liberal masochists.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

We would really like to tour with NWA. Obviously that would not happen because Eazy-E is no longer with us, but that’s pretty much our bucket list.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes. We aren’t perfect, we are scum of the earth, we are violent and we are emotional; which means that we are only human.

We can only hope that our band & our music shines a light on the horrible injustices facing both people of color and peaceful protesters in Graham, North Carolina.
