Unsigned Spotlight: A Sleepless Endeavor

A Sleepless Endeavor is an American pop band led by vocalist, guitarist and pianist Ed Megill.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

I am the only original member. I created this band and write/wrote all of the music. However, I just recently started playing with a bassist and drummer for live shows.

Drummer: Matt Lewis

Bassist: James Sauer

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to A Sleepless Endeavor? How long has the band been around?

I started out playing drums when I was 14, in a band called "Shadow Of The Abyss" which was a metal band (if you couldnt have guessed by the name) I was with 'SOTA' for about 3 years, until I joined another metalcore band called "Silent Future" when I was 18/19. After our drummer left for college, we parted ways after about 3 years and thats when I decided to create "A Sleepless Endeavor". What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

I was very upset about a nasty breakup that I had been dealing with at the time, and I couldn't sleep. I was drinking a lot, usually until the sun came up. Even though I was in the state that I was in, I still wanted to move forward with my life. I wanted to take this pain and incorporate it into what I did best, music. So while writing sad songs at 4 am, The name "A Sleepless Endeavor" just hit me, and it has stuck ever since.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I have written everything that I have out at the moment, and I don't see that changing any time soon haha. My theme seems to be "break ups" and sadness, but I plan on mixing it up in the near future. What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making? I honestly listen to more rap music than anything else right now, and that will probably come as a shock to my fans or anyone who really follows what I do. I still do enjoy some classic emo music such as secondhand serenade and chase coy. I also still enjoy my occasional metal music.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Secondhand Serenade had a tremendous impact on the music that I have written. I also like Jamestown story.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

I honestly might practice my set once or twice, but I dont do much other than that.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Id have to say the music video that I just filmed for my song titled "Fade Away" has been one of the biggest milestones so far.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Id love to tour with Secondhand Serenade, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Chase coy, and Ed Sheeran.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Id like to give a shout out to everyone who has truly supported me throughout this entire journey. I appreciate everyone who has ever taken the time out of their day to listen to my songs or tell me that they love my music. I absolutely love all of my fans and any future fans that I may acquire. I want to keep doing this for the rest of my life, and the supporters are the ones who will make that possible for me, so I appreciate you.
