Unsigned Spotlight: 45 To Argos
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Brandon G - Singer/guitarist
Brandon C - Bassist
Dave - Drummer
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to 45 To Argos? How long has the band been around?
Dave was a part of a band that consisted of his brother and his mom and dad called Second Chance for about 5 years. Brandon G has been in multiple bands with different friends from schools in our area. The last line up change we had was Brandon C, who joined early 2017. 45 was going for two or three years before that with different people, though.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The name came from a town the band’s first members practiced at. It is a town called Argos and it took us 45 minutes to get there, we just said it one day and it stuck.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Brandon G and Dave have written everything up until this point but Brandon C has started to contribute a lot more since joining the band with writing and we’ve all started writing together. A lot of the things we write about are usually inspired by the idea of us or loved ones pushing forward as much as possible in numerous personal goals or events that have affected us throughout our lives. We think they’ll definitely change as we grow older and have more life experiences.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Brandon G loves Nothing More and Royal Blood, Brandon C listens to a lot of Dance Gavin Dance and The Offspring, and Dave has been getting a lot of inspiration from Marilyn Manson and Animal Alpha.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
As kids, Brandon G's biggest influences were Ozzy and Green Day, Brandon C loved The Offspring, and Dave loved Led Zeppelin and Halestorm. We think every single concert we go to inspires us in different ways.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
We do a weird chromatic vocal warm up with an acoustic guitar about an hour before we go on. It just helps get our voices in the zone.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
We played a festival in Battle Creek, Michigan in 2017 and we never played any real festivals until that point. It was a super new and exciting experience for us.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Our list is way too big to put here, so we'll just name a few. Nothing More, Halestorm, Dance Gavin Dance, Black Sabbath.
