Track By Track: Offended By Everything - Evergreen
Offended By Everything is a pop punk band from Dallas, TX. Their new album, Evergreen came out January 4th. For the occasion, we asked guitarist Jarrett Adlof to tell us about each track. His commentary on the album can be seen below.
Deadweight-So Deadweight is the heaviest song, both musically and lyrically we’ve written. The context is on the surface. Being manipulated and wondering why! This is also the song that’s gotten our shows the most rowdy. Everyone goes nuts for the breakdown!
I’m Gone- I’m Gone was the first song we wrote and released from Evergreen. It feels like the most current Pop Punk song, and when we play it live it gets people super hyped. Lyrically it’s about struggling to walk away from something so familiar, which is something everyone can relate to.
You Call It Normal, I Call It Monotony- This song is our most positive song of the album. It’s about growing up, but moreso, the realization that there’s so much more than staying stagnant. It’s also our favorite musically on the album.
Evergreen- We wanted an acoustic song on this album because of the success of our other two we’ve released. Evergreen was the last song we recorded because while it’s the shortest it’s the most emotional song we have. We will let the dialogue speak for itself but we personally love the feel of it. Easter Egg: We were influenced by old Blink on this album and we recorded a clean lead on the Tom Delonge guitar during the chorus.
The First Time: The First Time has commercially been our most successful song of all time. It’s about falling for someone, being mistreated, and doing it all again with someone else. Relatable but also the fastest song we’ve ever recorded.
