“Different Places” is a collection of songs that tell a story of personal change and self-growth. It's the journey from who you were, through the irrevocable changes in relationships, to where you are and want to be in the future. From the band’s evolving sound to the literal journey of the band members crossing state and international borders, “Different Places” is the representation of where you started, and where you are going.”

Count On Me - Different Places starts off with a song about the transitional period in a relationship from romantic to friend. It's about maturing into a state where you can be comfortable with a person whom you shared a close bond with and being able to put your past behind you for something new. It introduces a theme of self growth present throughout the whole EP.

Empty Room -  Empty room is the story of a kid sneaking out of their room while trying to evade the wrath of their parents. During the recording process, this was initially our favorite song. Its upbeat instrumentals and guitars are reminiscent of our influences of the mid-2000's, and it had a light-hearted subject matter that we could all relate to.

Different Places - The title track, "Different Places" is about finding that your life is suddenly at odds with someone you are close with. This song was actually the creation of several different unfinished ideas that we were able to combine to tell one cohesive narrative. The final idea was bringing in our good friend Zech Pluister (of Sleep on It) to collaborate and provide his voice on the bridge. By the end, the song had changed so much from its original conception, that it truly emulated the message behind "Different Places."

Nothing Left to Lose - We originally released "Nothing Left To Lose" on our split EP with Summer Wars, but felt the need to revisit it with this album. It depicts some of the hardships of being an artist, putting 100% of yourself out there for everyone to see is often easier said than done.

Something In The Way - Something In the Way is about the battle of self-doubt while weighing the pros and cons of endangering an existing friendship for something more. It's more or less the opposite idea behind"Count On Me". It's a relationship that is evolving and the impossibility of returning to the way things were.

That Was Then, This Is Now - The opening line lays out the theme of the whole song. It's about acknowledging the need to improve oneself, without slipping back into the same pitfalls that led you to destructive behavior. While writing the lyrics, we wanted to keep the subject matter fluid so that our fans would be able to project their own meaning into the song but ended up writing something a little more personal to us. The song ends with the line, "I thought of you I shouldn't have," depicting the fear and ease of falling right back into the corrosive relationship you started in.
