Track By Track: Broken Testimony - Holding On to Nothing

Kill The Music gets the low down from Judge Page, co-founder and vocalist/guitarist of a new alternative / hard rock band from Easley, SC – Broken Testimony - who recently signed by Thermal Entertainment LLC and released their debut album Holding On To Nothing on June 22nd. Judge prepared this exclusive track-by-track for us.

Control:

Control is a song I wrote about corrupt politicians, and people of power in general.  Its  kinda wrote in the point of view of the people in the country itself.  Control is slipping away from us and becoming a thing held only by a hierarchy.

One Day:

One day is written about taking the chance do to something while you can.  With reference in suicide, people dying whatever someone can relate to and the regret of never telling them something you wanted to, and hoping you get that chance again someday

Fade Away:

The lyrics were actually co written by Bryce, and myself.  It's basically about neglecting a relationship and after it falls apart realizing what you had and all the things you would do to get a second chance at that, you would never let go again.

Blessing:

Funny enough it's kind of from the point of view of a serial killer.  Basically trying to imagine how someone would feel taking a life.

Medusa:

This song is arguably the most personal song to me.  It's about being betrayed by someone you claimed to be a close friend. More like family

Unknown:

This song was written by Nic, Bryce, and Myself.  I feel as if this song is meant to bring hope to dark places. Whether that hope comes from God or something else it's about needing something to help you guide yourself through where you're at now.

Vitality:

Vitality is defined as strength, life, all the above.  This song is about staying strong fighting through everything you may deal with.  Being alive is a gift not a right.  We are all searching for our purpose and we all have to jump sometime to achieve our dream.  So this for me is a song about jumping into your dreams. It really defines the whole of “Holding On To Nothing.”

We Never Learned from our Mistakes

Instead We Hid from Them, Just Like Our Fears

We Smoke Them Away, Thinking They Will Burn Off

But They Just Stain Who We Are Inside

These are 4 interludes taken came from a poem Bryce Chism had written.   The original name of the poem is Cigarettes on School Buses.

The album can be purchased in CD from their label's website and also available on all digital outlets.   Follow the link to purchase, download or stream:  https://thermalent.com/broken-testimony-holding-on-to-nothing.
