The Acacia Strain were playing in town so I figured I'd make my way to New Brookland Tavern for the show. It was my first time at the venue even Ive lived here since May. The local metal scene here is way better than Atlanta, as far as friends showing up to support the bands.

Cane Hill, the nu metal band from New Orleans, were the first of the tour package to take the stage. The band is clearly influenced by Sworn In, which isn't a bad thing. I'm all for the nu metal revival; better than having countless by-the-numbers scene bands. Their self-titled debut album, Gemini, will be out early next year on Rise Records.

I'm a bit indifferent towards The Plot In You but the crowd really got into them. Not a fan of the upside down cross gimmick on their shirts, especially since it's not even Satanic. Angry kids who hate their parents were excited.

I was so glad to see The Acacia Strain again. Always nice to see a positive band spread their message in their heartfelt lyrics. The band just recently released their new record, Coma Witch, and are currently do a small run of shows leading up to their tour with Emmure. (Yes, that's not a typo) In the middle of their set, Vincent gave a small speech about he remembers playing the venue 10 years ago when the roof was leaking and such. He was also saying how he hates when bands that only play new songs, which I wholeheartedly agree with. I understand labels want bands to promote their new material but you have older fans in the audience as well. Don't miss them when they come through your town!
