Show Review: Slipknot's Summer's Last Stand Tour (Atlanta, GA)
Summer's Last Stand Tour. Arguably the best tour of the summer came through Atlanta, GA to Aaron's Amphitheater at Lakewood.
Motionless In White
I missed them cause the box office fucked up my will call.
Bullet For My Valentine
The welsh band sounded better than ever. Their new album, Venom is a obvious throwback to their first album, The Poison. I believe this was also the first U.S. Tour with their new bassist. The band opened with No Way Out, a track from their upcoming new album. Matt Tuck's vocals sounded much better than the last time I saw them. I'm guessing he had lessons. They played a good mix of old and new including the fan favorite, Tears Don't Fall. The crowd seemed kinda dead for them but I guessing they were saving their energy.
Lamb of God
This was my second time seeing LOG. I was anxious to see them once again after hearing about Randy's new book, Dark Days, along with their new album, VII: Sturm Und Drang. After taking a walk in hell, LOG played two new songs, Still Echoes, and 512. The band had LED screens that played visuals from their music videos along with other striking visuals.. Randy made sure to mention how much him and the band live Hotlanta/The Dirty South. The set closed out with favorites, Laid to Rest, and Redneck.
Slipknot
After LOG finished, the stage hands put down a Slipknot branded curtain while they set up for them. 30 minutes or so passed before the lights went out. Right after playing the opening tracks from .5 The Grey Chapter, Slipknot launched into The Heretic Anthem from their sophomore record, Iowa. The crowd was very much into the performance compared to the first two bands. Psychosocial, Wait and Bleed, Sulfur, Spit It Out were spread amongst the set which seems to changing every other night. Corey Taylor has the best endurance of any vocalist, I've seen. Flawlessly switching from singing to screaming at the drop of a hat for roughly two hours. There was plenty of pyro during the songs; I'm wondering if Corey will pass out again? Hopefully they've taken the proper steps to prevent that. If you handle the intensity of seeing Slipknot, don't miss out on seeing them.
