This last Saturday at Fitzgeralds in Houston, some hefty punk acts came to get people slamming. Headlining was Austin, Texas based band Lower Class Brats which brought a snappy street punk sound to the mix and provided that signiture Austin punk rock n' roll sound. The Brats were being supported by fellow Austin natives, The Applicators. This all female proto-punk band tore through a mid-paced Runaways style set did not disappoint! Local Anarcho and Post Punk outfit, Gast set the tone for the evening putting on an intense and passion filled as well as reverb heavy set that would make Discharge and Joy Division fans come together. My persona favorite Houston natives, Some Nerve also put on a finger smoldering metallic influenced punk rock masterpiece. Although I come from a place of bias being that their self-titled record is one of my favorite of all time, I think they were the highlight of the show.
