REVIEW: The CMDWN - Doubt EP

The EP opens with "Shiver" a song that has the promiscuity and flirtatious vibe that you'd except from The Weeknd but with heavier rock influences. The combination makes for a killer album opener and ny favorite track on the album.  "Empty Room" is a more electronic influenced song, displaying quirky uses of auto-tuning and hypnotic electronic background elements. "Ro$es" takes the album down to a more relaxed level with smooth and soothing vocals and slower paced instrumentals. Rapping is introduced for the first time here and it is the perfect addition to this song. "Feelin' It" brings the sensuality back and is a number that you can not help to move your body to. To say I'm feelin' it is an understatement. "Black Bile" exposes a bit of a grittier side to vocalist, Chris Gibbons' range at times and they contrast well with his normal, borderline-hypnotic vocals. "For The Last Time" is the last song on the EP and it ends the album on a low-key, yet entrancing note.

Overall, this EP is everything I could have hoped it would be. This album provides the eroticism that you get from The Weeknd and the depth of The Neighbourhood, combined with rock based instrumentals making for a combination you will crave and an incredibly catchy album.

The EP is set to drop on August 19th. You can pre-order the EP here
