Since late 2013, Sworn In's been cooking up their sophomore album "The Lovers/The Devil". I had a chance to listen to the album so I gave it a go. The moment I turned on the album I was surprised to hear the first song "Sweetheart" come in so softly with a light piano and drums. 

After a minute the album immediately picks up into a hardcore "djent" breakdown. The dramatic change of all the instruments blaring as well as the distortion of the bass sets the mood for the whole album. This song will leave you feeling mentally insane with the switch between the quiet and immediate loudness. The guitars blast through straight to the next song "Sugar Lips" with no breaks. This is a trend that goes throughout the whole album.

It's apparent that Sworn In's really outdone themselves this time. A little later into the album the track "Scissors" has some of the best vocal cleans/uncleans in recent years. Although Sworn In shows that they can do the breakdowns, this album is really lacking when it comes to lyrics. The lyrics all seem to just clash together with little to no meaning. There is one track on the album right before the end, "Sour" that leaves you feeling sour. It's really just there to be a bridge song and maybe show off some electronic beats on their part. 

It leads straight into the final song "Love Drunk" which leaves you feeling like you did at the beginning: feeling eerie and loving the deafening breakdowns. Overall this album is a potential game-changer in the metalcore game. This album is sure to be a must in top 10 lists of metalcore albums this year.
