Structures, the Canadian metalcore band currently signed to Sumerian Records new album Life Through A Window had some metalcore fans had head banging and others bored.

Life Through A Window, being the band's sophomore record obviously tried to create a unique sound for themselves. They have a unique sound but not necessarily all theirs. Initially, Structures gave off a very heavy Stray From the Path vibe. The two bands being on the same label, I thought maybe it wasn't too far off to think Structures is just a generic rip off. Maybe Structures is just another money maker for the label. Although, not all the material on Life Through A Window sounded similar to Stray From the Path, they definitely tried some more sounds away from that heavy influence.

 The album kicks off with "Buried" which keeps an interesting riff in the intro, then adds some heavy flavor with the rhythm guitar. The song kept me interested but was really nothing to special. The lyrics made me cringe a few times, otherwise not a bad opener to this sophomore album.

"Nothing to Lose" opens our eyes to a little Stray From the Path influence, not too much though as to be an unbearable copy cat though. This song keeps the ball rolling for the album. The melodic guitars have any listener on their knees playing the air guitar and the heavy lines keep the heavy metalcore part in tact. The band's sound fits very nicely together in this track.

"The Worst of Both Worlds" feels like an Stray From the Path b-side. It feels this way not only because Andrew (Stray From the Path vocalist) guest stars on it but, it structures very identical to a song they would create except a bad knock off. As soon as you hear those harmonics from the opening sequence it feels like it should've been on Anonymous. This track was very disappointing because it had nothing to put on the table except energy.

 Otherwise, the rest of the album was ultimately uneventful and monotonous. The song structure was way to similar, absolutely no diversity between songs. I felt like I was listening to the same song at different tempo and slight variations between leads.

The album kept us on our toes in the opening acts but in the end let listeners down. Whether it was the Stray From the Path borderline copy-cat/ influence scenerio, to the poor song structure.
