I don’t know about you guys, but I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. LANY has finally released their self-titled debut album. While this is LANY’s first full-length album they have been releasing music in the form of EP’s since 2014. LANY includes songs such as their hit single “ILYSB” and new summer bops such as “Hurts” and “Super Far.”    

This album provides honest insight into the hard to navigate world of love, relationships, and break-ups in the millennial era. LANY has an incredible gift of being able to turn mundane situations such as staying up late and talking about “Dumb Stuff” into complete works of art that come across as beautiful and complex while still being completely relatable. LANY has successfully been able to strike a perfect balance between upbeat summer hits and wistful introspective ballads creating an album that feels complete and leaves the listener begging for even more.

The album focuses on all aspects of love including new love, love lost, and even familial love by including the track “Parents” which is a voicemail to Jake Goss, the drummer, from his mother. While the lyrical content and the relationships portrayed in the album can be described as shallow at times, I believe that is what makes this album so relatable to so many people. Acts of love may not always be obvious and life-changing on the surface, but that does not mean that it isn’t there which is exactly what the final song of the album “It Was Love,” is about.   Filled with lively synth-pop beats and dreamy melodies this album is a can’t miss. LANY will be out touring for the rest of the year so be sure to catch them in a city near you.
