Review: Emery - You Were Never Alone

Emery is releasing their sixth studio album on May 19, 2015. This is a pretty solid album; I really enjoyed the clean vocals.

I think they should only be a clean vocal band. The screaming is really throwing of the vibe throughout this album. The first track "Rock, Pebble, Stone" is really good because they don't really scream in it. I just think his rough vocals doesn't pair with the pop punk and emo style.

Toby Morrell is a really talented singer and the more clean vocals the better. The song writing is also good in this album. The band works well together and every song is pretty catchy and upbeat. What do you expect from a band that has been around since early 2000's!

The song "Hard Time" is pretty great for the most part. I like the guitar melody and the vocals in this. I really don't care much for the screaming, like I said it really doesn't pair well with the style they are going for. This song is still worth checking out though.

I overall rate this album a 6 out of 10. Half of the tracks are pretty good but the others fell short. I know screaming is big in this music scene but sometimes bands just need to sing. Emery is trying to fit in to much and it is pretty unfortunate. Moments in the album are really good and if you are fine with the unmatched screaming then this album is worth listening too.
