Metal Vocalist Danica Roem (Cab Ride Home) Becomes First Openly Transgender State Lawmaker, Guitarist Justin Brannan (Indecision/Most Precious Blood) Wins New York City Council Election

It looks like metal was well represented in the polls yesterday (November 7), with two musicians winning elections in Virginia and New York. One is Democrat and Cab Ride Home vocalist Danica Roem, who has become the first openly transgender state lawmaker. She is taking a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates that previously belonged to Republican Robert Marshall, who is known for his infamous "bathroom bill” that sought to restrict public bathroom use by transgender people. The other metal winner is Democrat and Most Precious Blood/Indecision guitarist Justin Brannan who will take a seat on the New York City Council. He defeated Republican John Quaglione and will be representing district 43.
