Little Envy is Making Big Moves

Joseph de los Reyes, one half of the San Francisco based rock band Little Envy, took a moment after the final show of the Emarosa's Intimate and Unplugged Tour to talk about all of exciting things happening with the band.

How did Little Envy end up on this acoustic tour supporting Emarosa?

Well, it's been a couple of years in the making.  We have been building a fan base and went out on our first tour this spring with a couple of pop punk bands.  This is only our second tour. It was really short but it was an incredible opportunity.

The band was recently signed to a label. Tell me a little bit about that process.

It's a funny story. I have not met him in person yet but he heard our record a little less than a year ago.  Dave Conway from South By Sea Music heard our music and felt that early 2000s pop punk/screamo vibe.  He felt good about it and is doing a one release.  We'll be releasing an album this summer, so who knows where we'll be in a few months.

What can you tell us about the upcoming release?

We recorded the new music a few months ago.  It is cool because we are doing all of the artwork ourselves.  It's all really fresh and is still coming together.  We have a good team work on it for us.  It will be released sometime this summer, hopefully.  Then we'll start working on another record and get touring again.  We have a booking agent now too.

What's inspiring the music that you are creating now?

There are so many rad artists out there that that inspire us but if I really had to narrow it down I'd say Davey Havok from AFI and Bert McCracken from The Used.  I found out about them at the same time around when I was in the seventh grade.  I saw them both live and was inspired by them.  It's been ten years and I am still listening to them.

Where can people go to check out your music?

They can go to littleenvy.com, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Tumblr.  We are out there.  People can Google us.  We want people to find us and check out our music.

You can check out the video for the single "Boy," from the self titled album Little Envy here.
