Interview: Faulkner

"The less you know about Faulkner the more you know about Faulkner"  is definitely one of the more creative band biographies I've seen on Facebook, can you explain what that means to you?

If I did then it would make that statement false...

You recently released your EP titled Revanchist, which touches upon your personal journey of living on the streets of New York. What did you learn from those hard times?

How to hustle and build layers upon layers of thick skin. An edgy attitude and a bag full of life hacks.

How do you hope to inspire your fans with your story?

Every back carries a different size and weight cross. Hard to compare stories but... If there is anything listeners could walk away with is to feel empowered, to believe in themselves and their ambitions. To stay resilient no matter what.

Revanchist was produced by the legendary RZA and you also have a track featuring him on it. What was it like to work with such a creative mastermind?

He is one of the most intelligent individuals we've had the pleasure of meeting and working with. He incorporates philosophy, science and numerology in his creative process and shared loads of wisdom with us.

What was the creative process like collaborating with someone who hails from a rap/hip-hop background?

We respect and relate to the hip hop hustle attitude 100% so we felt right at home.

You fellas take a very hands on approach to your band, participating in every aspect, including directing your own music videos. Much like the video for your single "NY Anthem" your videos are in monochrome, what lead to the decision to stick to the black and white videos?

We wanted to be as direct as possible in delivering the music to fans so we felt the monochrome approach rendered itself as the perfect vehicle for that.

While simple in nature, the album artwork for your EP is profoundly powerful. What inspired this image to become the face of such a strong EP?

The picture radiates empowerment. It's captivating, We want to be captivating and empowering through all aspects of our art.

You guys will be performing at a charity fashion show during NYFW, what are you most looking forward to from this opportunity?

We are always happy to perform for a worthy cause. We're looking forward to meeting all the wonderful people behind the event and extend our relationship to more events like it.

What more can fans expect from you in 2017?

A full album, a new video for our single Halo Me and more tour dates. We are also very excited to release a new collaboration with a Detroit MC who is one of the best to ever do it.
