Hematite, the new project of Davey Muise (Vanna, Trove) and guitarist/vocalist Andrew Gaultier (To Speak of Wolves, He is Legend) have a released their new cinematic single, “Run Devil Run”. Davey spoke exclusively to us about the experience of creating the video saying:

"I’ve always written music and lyrics with some sort of visual imagery playing in my head. A type of movie or documentary building as the song does almost simultaneously. So that when it comes time for a video or visual art to represent a song, I usually already have developed the plot in my head. Being a fan of cinema and storytelling since I was young I relish the opportunity to build a world, even if it means for 3 minutes. Making music now with also being a visual director as a career making videos for these songs has been a dream come true for me. 

Run Devil Run was shot entirely by myself and my wife who runs a creative company with me so to say it was a pleasure to make is an understatement. We took off to the Oregon coast and shot it all in a day. The song captures this idea of a devil on the run. From the law, from his life, from someone searching, from whatever the devil inside you runs from. Instead of showing all that and building some kind of storyline, I wanted to keep the lyrics open to interpretation of the demons in us all.

So what we got was this almost resting time of this devilish character, the anxiety between the action. The calms in between the storms. I think we can all relate to either running towards our problems or away just depends on the day and this is meant to be a visual you can catch your breath to. Either that or it’s a soundtrack to pounding the pavement and forward movement. Either way, enjoy it."
