Sea To Sky was such a strange series of events. In fact, some would argue that it was never meant to happen at all. If I had to use two words to describe the making of this EP, it would choose patience and perseverance. Literally, everything that could have gone wrong, did. From almost unsalvageable mishaps while recording, to post-production delays, to having our rehearsal space flooded and nearly losing all of our gear; we experienced it all. Yet, here we are nearly 2 years in the making and it is finally a tangible (as tangible as digital media can be) thing.

The story starts a few years back when Jonathan and I (Anthony) decided after many “dude, I’m at this concert and I’m so bummed that we’re not making music” text messages, that it was time to stop talking about it and that we were at a place in our lives where we could finally devote the time and energy to something that we loved and missed so much. The last tour (with Lights In The Sky) ended with losing a tour manager, a bass player and having our drummer literally kicked out of the country, with empty bank accounts and nothing short of the foul taste of defeat lingering in our mouths.  At that point in our lives, the only viable option seemed to be to take a step back to focus on more productive and stable persuits.

One day, Jon called me and told me that he had started writing and that we needed to get together to see what we could create. With a simple text message, a flickering flame inside of us was once again fully ablaze after a nearly 2-year hiatus.  Rough ideas became solid concepts and a story was created, speaking on themes of love, life, death, nature, defeat, struggle, and the human condition. In a nut shell, the EP centers on what it means to be a human once you stop, take a deep breath, and open your eyes to the world around you. We are so blind to reality because we are so caught up in our own worlds and lives. Sea To Sky is a reflection of the realities of life that we all struggle with, yet seem to ignore or drown out with meaningless things.

We truly feel like we have written something that everyone can relate to and connect with. After many months of pre-production with Ian Burg (In Her Own Words) we finally found a studio and engineer that we really clicked with (Nels Jensen, The Pie Studios) and we embarked on this creative journey. Our good friends from the band Chunk! No, Captain Chunk, Eric and Bertrand Poncet mixed and mastered the album for us and we had our dear friend Jessie Lynch (Alistair Hennessey) produce and direct our first Music video “Glass Houses” (link here). We truly believe that this is our year and we are so excited to share our vision with each and every one of you.
