Guest Blog: A .44 Caliber Love Letter to Equal Vision Records by LIMBS

When I was 13 years old, I stumbled across this band on PunkRockVids.com called Alexisonfire. I was instantly hooked after watching a live performance for their song, “.44 Caliber Love Letter.” The enthusiasm of their live show seemed infectious. Soon after seeing that, I purchased their self-titled record and loved it. I had only ever paid attention to pop punk/rock bands prior, and had no clue that type of genre existed. I was so intrigued by the sound/energy, and really wanted to listen deeper into that vein of music. I researched who put out the album (Equal Vision) and figured that this label, with a roster of bands, was a great resource to familiarize myself with. Over time, I was introduced to so many other bands on EVR that became influential in my life: Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive, Fear Before [the March of Flames], Converge, Armor for Sleep, and others.

Fast-forward to now: joining up with EVR has already become a watershed to our group’s development. They get us. It’s surreal to have the opportunities to work together with them. They’ve been so encouraging and supportive with the upcoming release of our debut EP, so naturally we’re excited to be working with them on our albums following. They went above and beyond with helping us prep/execute the release of SLEEP [EP] the way we wanted. In the past, we’ve kept our recording sessions DIY with our vocalist, Chris [Costanza], at the helm engineering everything. On SLEEP, the band really had the opportunity to fine-tune the material that was already written, as well as hash out new material – all under producers/engineers that have influenced us individually, and as a band, for years. We can’t wait to finally release this music to everyone.

To anyone who streams, buys, downloads, burns, torrents, or even just shares the new EP: thank you. We appreciate you taking this journey with us. This is only the start, and we’re excited to keep this going.
