Foo Fighters with The Struts Birmingham, AL 10/26/17

Foo Fighters recently made their long-awaited return to Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday. Having just canceled three shows earlier that week, Foo was back in action! The opener was The Struts from Derbyshire, England, who can best be described as a mix of glam metal, Queen, and Michael Jackson. I was definitely impressed. Foo Fighters played for 3 hours, spanning their entire catalog and playing hits from all eight albums. Perhaps, though, the best moment came from a lucky fan named Jeremy.

He held a sign the first half of the show which read “Dave, it’s my birthday. Can I play “Big Me” on guitar?” Grohl asked him if he really knew how to play it. Yes, he did and it was EPIC! After an encore, Grohl told a story about loving punk music. He recalled an album by the Louisville, Kentucky based band, Squirrel Bait, whose former singer, Peter Searcy, was in attendance. He performed the SB song “Sun God” with Grohl. Overall the show was brilliantly executed and was remnant of what a rock show should be. It was the Foo Fighters.
