On June 15, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will sing in the BC Lions’ 3rd annual concert kickoff, on Save-On-Foods Field. After the concert, the home fans will enjoy their team’s match against the Calgary Stampeders. 50 will be on stage at around 3:00 PM.

Why This Concert Is A Big Deal

For people who love rap music, 50 Cent needs no introduction. Much of his music is timeless and instantly recognizable. In the early 2000s, numerous catchy songs made him internationally known, and some of them continue to be popular to this day.

At nearly 50 years old, 50 Cent is one of the biggest legends of American hip-hop. He released five studio albums and lots of other compilation albums that have sold more than 30 million copies around the globe.

50 Cent is a good friend of Eminem, but he was quite famous before he became associated with him. Like other great rappers, he’s not just talking about things he never experienced. He’s talking about his own life and has a lot of street credibility.

50’s first world-class album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin”, sold more than nine million copies. Some of its songs, including “In Da Club” and “Wangsta”, have defined his personal style. The first of these hits was uploaded to YouTube nearly 15 years ago and currently has more than 2 billion views! That pretty much sums up the artist’s popularity.

But 50 Cent is a complex man. Like other famous rappers, such as Jay-Z, he has greatly diversified his activities in the last two decades, playing in lots of movies and investing in various businesses. Nowadays, he is more of a businessman than a hip-hop singer, making his live performances even more prestigious because they are rare.

Being an entrepreneur, 50 took an interest in many things and one of them was Blackjack. In fact, he is so interested in the game that he decided to create his own app, called 50 Cent Blackjack. It is said that 50 used to sometimes spend more than $50.000 at a table when visiting casinos, and he continues to play Blackjack to this day.

50 Cent’s performance will take place in Vancouver, Canada. In the United States, it wouldn’t have been such a spectacular event because many hip-hop artists are constantly touring the

country. But in Canada, it certainly is. Especially these days, when issues like freedom of speech are on the minds of many Canadians.

As an art form, hip-hop is quite loud when it comes to social problems. 50 Cent’s brand of hip-hop is not as concerned with this topic, but it’s still rap music.
