Rushmore (1998) - “I saved Latin, what did you ever do?”
By the end of the film you won't be able to pinpoint if Max Fischer is someone you’d want to be friends with or someone you want to hit so hard, but either way, Rushmore will leave a mark. Following the tale of Rushmore Academy’s favorite student Max Fischer, Director Wes Anderson does a great job of making Fischer’s activities believable and funny! And even Fall Out Boy’s can rejoice, know that track “Tell That Mick He Made My List of Things to Do Today”? Well, let’s just say a quick viewing of the movie will show you the origin of the title!
Bottle Rocket (1996) - “They’ll never catch me… because I'm f***ing innocent.”
One of Wes Anderson’s first big films Bottle Rocket stars a young Owen and Luke Wilson, along with Robert Musgrave as they attempt to go on the run. Being some of the actor's first works, there are some rough moments throughout the film, but the base of the film is impeccable. Though all things aside, the plot of the movie will bring a laugh or two and surely set you up well to watch the more films by Wes Anderson.
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) - “Of course it’s dark, it’s a suicide note.”
A little weird and 100% jam-packed with subtle humor, Wes Anderson’s 2001 work ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ is surely a wonderful movie that will leave a mark on you. Filled with a marvelous cast the diverse crew brings their characters to light in that can be explained by watching the film. The best parts of the film are scattered all throughout the film with multiple hard-hitting and emotionally pack moments balancing the funny moments. With this film, the one thing to mention to mention is nearing the end of the film there is a heavily triggering scene for anyone struggling with suicidal ideation.
